 Sustainable Development definition 

 
A guiding principle for achieving human development objectives while maintaining the capacity of natural systems to deliver the resources and ecosystem services that are essential to the economy and society. The desired outcome is a state of society where living circumstances and resources are used to meet human needs while maintaining the integrity and stability of the natural system. According to the Brundtland Report from 1987, sustainable development is "development that satisfies the present generation's requirements without jeopardizing the capacity of future generations to meet their own needs." As the idea of sustainable development grew, its focus shifted more toward protecting the environment for future generations and making economic and social progress (Sustainable development 2022).

Social pillar

 

The social pillar of a company's sustainable development strategy is based on values that promote equality and respect for individual rights. combat all forms of social exclusion and discrimination. It encourages unity and cohesion. Contribute to the health and happiness of those who have a stake in the outcome (Delubac, What are the three pillars of sustainable development? 2022). 

An economic pillar

 

The capacity of businesses to make a positive contribution to the expansion and development of the economy underpins this pillar. Therefore, the recycling of products and the use of renewable energy sources are essential components in the growth of the economic pillar. The goal of the ISO 50001 standard is to improve energy performance and make use of energy more efficiently (Delubac, What are the three pillars of sustainable development? 2022). 

The environmental pillar

 

 Corporate social responsibility (CSER) is a dedication to defending the environment through risk reduction and monitoring the environmental effects of business operations. In order to enhance their performance on environmental challenges, businesses must create goals. CSER's main goals are to stop people from running out of water and to reduce the amount of trash that is made (Delubac, What are the three pillars of sustainable development? 2022).

WASH It is widely used by non-governmental organizations and aid agencies in developing countries. The purposes of providing access to WASH services include achieving public health gains; improving human dignity in the case of sanitation; and implementing the human right to water and sanitation (Delubac, What are the three pillars of sustainable development? 2022).
